Sleep Technology offers Ohio County a Good Night’s Rest
Hartford, Kentucky – Sleep related problems are the THIRD most common complaint heard in physicians offices, following colds and headaches. Starting in April, those afflicted with sleep disorders can be effectively treated though technology and therapeutics at Ohio County Hospital Sleep Center.
Located within the hospital at 1211 Old Main Street, the Sleep Center diagnoses and treats sleep related problems such as: Sleep Apnea, Snoring, Chronic Insomnia, Restless Leg Syndrome and Narcolepsy. “Regular, restful sleep is vital in maintaining optimal health,” said Dr. Michael Zachek, Pulmonologist and Medical Director of the Sleep Center. “Sleep is a human need as basic as food, and is essential to emotional and physical well-being. A lack of quality, consistent sleep can have profound effects, which can make even simple tasks difficult.”
According to researchers, 18-25 million people have sleep apnea or related sleep disorder, but less than a million are actually aware of it. The Ohio County Hospital Sleep Center has a highly skilled staff and is equipped with state of the art technology to monitor the patient in a home-like environment. The testing is simple and painless with a typical timeline of a one to two night period.
Blaine Pieper, Ohio County Hospital CEO, said The Sleep Center is another example of the hospital’s commitment to continue monitoring Ohio County’s health care needs and providing those services locally. “Our goal is for each patient to have a great healthcare experience at our hospital.
The Sleep Center contains two attractively decorated private bedrooms with the following accommodations: queen-sized beds with pillow-topped mattress and/or overstuffed recliners, storage for personal items, television and a pleasing décor. This relaxing, sleep-inducing atmosphere is removed from the hustle and bustle of other Hospital services.
Ohio County Hospital Sleep Center accepts patients only through physician referral. Please contact your family physician about this service if you feel you suffer from a sleep disorder. For additional information, please call Sleep Lab Services of Ohio County Hospital at 270-298-5178.
