Ohio County Hospital adds MRI service.
Ohio County Hospital is pleased to announce the addition magnetic resonance (MR) services to its Radiology Department . MR Services will be available Wednesdays of each week. The mobile MRI unit and services are contracted through Diagnostic Imaging Systems of Lexington, KY. MRI is a physician ordered test with the images to be read by local Radiologists and results sent to patients physician.
“The new MR system enables us to perform high-resolution studies on many types of diagnosis, especially orthopedic and neurology patients”, said Kathi Yeiser, Director of Radiology. “For example”, she continued,”we can now look at very small blood vessels in the brain that would help to spot aneurisms, or aide in identifying plaque build-ups in the carotid arteries that might lead to future stroke. We can also diagnose blood-flow problems in patients with phlebitis or diabetes.”
For orthopedic patients, the MR system will help the physicians of Ohio County Hospital diagnose some of the most difficult joints in the body, such as the shoulder and pelvis. It can also detect subtle damage to the spine and joints in patients with herniated disks and arthritis.
Ohio County Hospital Radiology Department’s focus is to bring patients local availability to high-level diagnostic procedures. With extended hours, including evenings and weekends, they provide a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment to maximize patient care services and minimize patient’s wait. Services include Nuclear Medicine, Computed Tomography (Cat Scan or CT), X-Ray, Bone Density Scans and Mammography. For more information please contact Kathi Yeiser, Director of Radiology, Ohio County Hospital at (270) 298-5491.
