Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac Rehab is an integral part of the recovery process for individuals with existing heart disease. The medically-supervised outpatient program combines exercise, education, and emotional support for patients with known or suspected heart disease. A registered nurse continuously monitors the patient’s response during exercise by electrocardiogram, heart rate, and blood pressure. Exercise sessions are conducted several times a week over a 10 to 12 week period, with each session lasting about an hour.
Cardiac Rehab is also beneficial for individuals at high risk for developing heart disease and for anyone who wishes to begin an exercise program. The Rehab Center has state-of-the-art exercise equipment — treadmills, stair machine, rowing machine, and stationary bikes — and is staffed by highly-trained medical personnel, all with advanced cardiac training.
Medicare coverage of cardiac rehab programs would be considered reasonable and necessary only for patients with clear medical need who are referred by their doctor. One of the following conditions must be documented:

Acute myocardial infarction (MI) in the preceding 12 months |

Coronary artery bypass surgery in the preceding 12 months |

Stable angina pectoris |
