Position Description:
|
Performs selected nursing and administrative duties as instructed by the physician/practitioner or written protocol. Responds to all voice and email communications within 24 hours. Prepares patients for examination and treatment by obtaining and recording chief complaint, history, vital signs, triage, current medication list. Accurately charts in paper and/or electronic record. Prepares and cleans exam rooms between patients. Gives injections, changes dressings, etc as directed. Obtains lab samples, does in-house lab testing, properly records and prepares samples for transport to other areas. Prepares and maintains supplies, equipment, and inventory control, including sterilization where appropriate. Assures adequate stock of inventory of medical supplies and reorders when low. Maintains medication samples in designated area in orderly manner. At least monthly, reviews all drug samples, stock medications, and /or other items for expiration dates and disposes in prescribed manner. Removes those with expired, or soon-to-be expired dates. Assists providers in patient treatment including minor surgeries, gynecological exams, etc. Assists with scheduling tests and treatments. Using established office procedures, assures that ordered tests and/or consults are completed, results are received, reviewed and report to the patient in timely manner. Schedules patient appointments in computer system. Maintains proficiency in computer system---demographics, appt. scheduling, obtaining results via hospital system, documents and obtains information from EMR as appropriate. Communicates timely, professionally, and accurately with patients, family, other caregivers, hospital personnel, etc within the privacy guidelines. Maintains patient confidentiality. Communicates problems, unresolved issues, recurring issues, compliance issues, patient care concerns promptly through appropriate channels. Attends 80% of all staff meetings and 100% of all mandatory hospital or office meetings/in-services. Participates in at least one community event annually. Pulls and files charts. Files information in patient chart and/or into EMR in organized, tidy manner per protocol. Maintains workspace in clean, orderly fashion. Demonstrates age-appropriate communication skills. Maintains strict compliance to all hospital or regulatory standards (EMTALA, BBP, HIPAA, etc).
