New Quick Care Clinic Opens in November
Hartford, Kentucky October 1, 2009 -- Ohio County Hospital will open a Quick Care Clinic in November. The clinic will offer affordable, walk-in medical care for minor illnesses or injuries with all the resources of the Hospital’s Laboratory and Imaging departments. The Hospital based clinic is in close proximity to Emergency Department if a higher level of medical treatment is necessary. The clinic will be staffed by board-certified family nurse practitioners and will be open Monday–Friday, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m to 5 p.m. No appointments will be required. Patients will access the clinic by entering the front lobby of the Hospital. The option will be available to bill your insurance or you can choose a $50.00 cash payment for most services. All major credit cards, checks and cash will be accepted at the time of service. If you are covered by insurance, please check to verify your co-pay or deducible. It may be printed on your insurance card.
A variety of ailments will be treated including cold and cough, ear and sinus infections, pink eye, poison ivy, allergies, bladder infections, fever and strep throat, and bronchitis. No narcotics will be prescribed. The Quick Care Nurse Practitioners will provide school and sports physicals and future plans include offering vaccination clinics. Also available will be convenient access for businesses and employees to occupational medicine services including drug screening, pre-employment physical exams, Department of Transportation physical exams, and treatment for workplace injuries covered under workers compensation.
“We are committed to improving access to high-quality, affordable healthcare in Ohio County.” says Blaine Pieper, CEO, and Ohio County Hospital, “The Quick Care Clinic will be an extension of the same patient-first model of service offered in our Ohio County Family Care Clinics. It is designed to provide fast, convenient, after hours care for minor medical problems when your family medicine physician is not in the office but the situation does not warrant an ER visit.”
The Quick Care Nurse Practitioners will encourage all patients to have a health care home, a provider they see routinely for on-going medical needs and preventive exams. If a patient's condition falls outside of the scope of service at the clinic, the patient is referred back to his/her primary care provider for follow-up care. To further enhance continuity of care, both the family medicine offices and the Quick Care Clinic will utilize the same electronic medical record technology system for patient visit documentation.
