Pulmonary and Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our Rehabilitation Nurses work closely with our Physical and Occupational Therapists to return pulmonary and cardiac patients to the highest level of function possible.

Pulmonary Rehab typically consists of 3 visits per week for up to 10 weeks. Patients are monitored on a cardiac monitor for only the first three visits as long as no atypical patterns are noted. The patient is continuously monitored through oxygen saturation rates, rate of perceived dyspnea (shortness of breath) and heart rate. Patients are educated on pursed lip breathing and energy conservation techniques as well as safe exercise during their treatments.

Cardiac Rehab typically consists of 3 visits per week for up to 12 weeks.  During this time, patients are monitored on a cardiac monitor and educated on safe and proper exercises as well as life style choices to maintain a healthy heart.
Both pulmonary and cardiac patients are given the choice to continue a maintenance program after they are discharged from therapy. In this program, they are able to come to the clinic twice each week to perform independent exercise.  Our rehab professionals are nearby for consultation as needed.
