Disorders of the gastrointestinal tract affect millions of people every day.  Common health issues like stomach aches and diarrhea can be the result of a number of painful and sometimes serious Gastrointestinal (GI) conditions or diseases.

The practice of gasteroenterology has undergone a dramatic change in recent years. New endoscopic instruments have enabled physicians and specially-trained nursing staff to examine a large portion of the gastrointestinal tract. This further enables the physician to obtain biopsy specimens and diagnose and treat many illnesses that otherwise might go undetected.

At Ohio County Hospital, our staff stays abreast of the latest advances in technology.  Some of the procedures completed in the department include:

• Upper Gastrointestinal endoscopy
• Colonoscopy
• Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography
• Manometry studies
• PH Studies
